Almaz by Momo Abu Dhabi
A north African restaurant with exuberant Moroccan-inspired interiors, courtesy of Annabel Karim Kassar of AKK Architects. What began as a single large room has been divided up into several more intimate spaces, including a juice bar and bistro, with different aesthetic treatments for each. The eye is guided through the space by the multi-coloured timber ceiling and hexagonal oak parquet floor, which is scattered with insertions of tiles in contrasting cement and shiny copper. Throughout, there is a vibrant play of colour and pattern, with reflection and sparkle brought by the mirrored elements and a textural richness that comes from the opulent textiles and Moroccan zellige tiles.
