House in Tinos
For this project on the small Cycladean island of Tinos, Zoumboulakis Architects has combined surprisingly industrial materials such as glass and steel with the more traditional building techniques of the area, including large stone walls, stone lintels and wooden shutters. This theme extends inside, with cooling concrete floors, built-in furniture and a highly sculptural metal staircase and cantilevered table/bar, also in rusted metal. The minimal interiors are dotted with contemporary furniture, to complement the owners’ art collection.
