Notting Hill House
Annabel Karim Kassar, founder of AKK Architects, owns this Victorian house, which she modernised and updated. The property is very narrow but has been opened up to create more of a sense of space and grandeur, a feeling that is enhanced by features such as the black-stained oak parquet floor. The house is full of unexpected delights, from the carved wooden doorway that separates the master bedroom from the dressing room to the richly tiled WC and the faceted mirrors on the kitchen ceiling. Annabel’s concept for the interiors was to celebrate the Victorians’ taste for the exotic, and for collecting objects from their travels – so it mixes Lebanese, Moroccan and French styles, alongside contemporary furniture from Kartell and Ligne Roset.
