Maurizio Pellizzoni A Scottish Retreat
The brief was to bring a dash of the Cote D’Azur to the Scottish Highlands. The space was a new extension to an eighteenth-century family house, complete with several bedrooms, a kitchen and a turret with a bell-tower. Maurizio Pellizzoni‘s first step was to lay matching floorboards in both the old and the new wings and create a colour scheme consisting of pastels, naturals, yellows and blues. Expensive finishes were rejected in favour of unfinished woods, antique leathers and robust textures. The client wanted a mix of old and new to create a lived-in feel. To this end, MP sourced many pieces from salvage and reclamation yards and included the client’s existing artworks and antiques.
