Skip Stop House
This development just off London’s Marylebone High Street saw architecture and design firm Design Haus Liberty (DH Liberty) combine two buildings to make a mixed commercial-residential building. The process revealed a building rich with history – aged wallpaper, tiles and brick – and this was a starting point for the interiors, with DH Liberty opting to feature these unmade surfaces through framed ‘windows’ of new construction. Old, rough textures are countered with slick new ones such as mirror, mesh and herringbone parquet, with hand-blown lighting, hanging from black braided silk ropes, providing further contrast.
