Breakthrough Breast Cancer Garden – RHS Chelsea 2015
The Breakthrough Breast Cancer Garden, created for RHS Chelsea 2015 by Ruth Willmott Associates, won a silver-gilt medal. Drawing inspiration from the genetic research and breakthroughs into breast cancer, its design is based on a DNA double helix shape represented by a stone pathway and crossed by a ribbon of soft pink planting. The saturation of pink colour grows in intensity towards the central axis of the garden with key plants including Aquilegia var. stellata ‘Rose Barlow’, Iris sibirica ‘Pink Haze’ and Lupinus ‘Blossom’.
