Broad Street House
This exceptional new build Suffolk home by Nash Baker Architects, reflects local vernacular tradition whilst at the same time being unashamedly modern. Replacing a pre-existing 1980s building, the property blends with the architectural character of the village by using locally sourced materials. To create a distinctive look, the bricks are laid in a variation of ‘Monks bond’ with white iron-free sand for the lime mortar. In contrast to the brickwork on the ground floor, the upper level appears lightweight, utilising ribbons of untreated oak cladding to wrap up and across a pitched roof. The property takes advantage of expansive views across the marshes and the coast beyond.
