Stackyard House

Cambridge-based Mole Architects takes special interest in creating homes that are sensitive to context, and this house in Palgrave, Suffolk is no exception. Partly inspired by the classical rectories that typically stand on the fringes of villages – the house is on the edge of open farmland – it features an exposed timber structure, maximum natural light and sustainable features. Inside is a generous entrance hall leading to a double height atrium, while the upper bedroom, which sits half a floor higher than the parapet, responds to the clients’ brief for is a space to observe nature. The house is designed to Passivhaus standards.
